His Excellency President Mahama briefed about 225 MW Wind Farm at Ayitepa

Ghanaian President His Excellency John Dramani Mahama on June 14th toured the Ningo-Prampram District in the Greater Accra Region to inspect the Saglemi Affordable Housing Project. During his visit, he commissioned a 1,500 housing unit at Ningo and stated that his government is committed to provide Ghanaians with decent homes and living.

Upwind Ayitepa Ltd. took advantage of this visit and informed the President about the project status of the Ayitepa wind farm which will be located just a few kilometers South-East of the housing locations. Nene Kanor Atiapah III, Ag. President of the Ningo Traditional Council, informed the President in the presence of E. T. Mensah and Sam George Nartey about the 225 MW wind farm and pointed out the advantages of the project: “This pioneering project is not only the source of sustainable and clean electricity, which we desire so urgently, but it also generates a lot of additional employment, will attract modern farming technologies and other industries to the region and therefore increases the social and living standards in the surrounding communities”, he stated. 

During the ceremony, representatives of Upwind Ayitepa Ltd. and Lekela Power BV, the investor and operator of the wind farm, had the chance to meet the President. Present were Michael Wuddah-Martey, NEK’s country manager for Ghana, Mikael Schoultz, Lekela’s Business Developer for Africa, and Dr. Christoph Kapp, the CEO of Upwind Ayitepa Ltd.
