On 10th March 2015, the Power Purchase Agreement for our 225 MW wind farm at Ayitepa was initialed at the Headquarters of the Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd. (ECG) in Accra. This is a very important step regarding the finalization of the development of the first large scale wind farm in West Africa.
More than 300 people gathered in the village of Ayitepa, Greater Accra Region, Ghana, on the 6th February 2015 to be informed on the progress of the 225 MW wind park project in their neighbourhood. Following an official invitation issued by the Ningo/Prampram District Assembly, the attendees showed huge interest in collecting information about the implementation, impacts and benefits of the project.
Ghana’s Energy and Petroleum Minister, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has met with representatives of Upwind International, Mainstream Renewable Power and NEK Umwelttechnik from Switzerland, to discuss the wind farm project at Ayitepa and the country’s energy policy.
Upwind is pleased to announce that it has signed an investment agreement with the Irish company Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd. in order to sell the 225 MW Ayitepa Wind Farm, located 50 kilometres from Accra on the east coast of Ghana.
